#WakeUpWednesday #TMG – Music Stars Fight to Make “Ticket Bots” Software Illegal // Billboard

Historically, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving has been a night where many Americans find themselves at concerts, clubs and just out and about in general.  Of those people venturing out tonight to see their favorite musicians perform, many were subject to buying tickets on the secondary market.   This week, we highlight an article written over the Summer in Billboard’s July 2nd Issue.
The article speaks about the efforts of musicians and the U.S. Congress to eliminate “Ticket Bots” Software.  Scalpers use this software to buy up large amounts of tickets when they first go on sale, forcing loyal fans to buy their tickets in the secondary market at a heavy markup.  Not only does this take away from the experience for the fans, but it also hinder’s the musicians’ ability to connect with their audience.  See what is being done to thwart scalpers and how some artists combat scalpers on a micro-level.
