This week we highlight Intonenation Records started by one of our favorite musicians out there, JES! Intonenation Records was launched by singer/songwriter, DJ and producer JES in 2015 and heralds a new chapter in artist curated labels.
Enjoying immediate success with a Grammy nomination for the debut release “Hold On (Fatum Remix) – JES, Shant & Clint Maximus” Intonenation is quickly developing recognition as the home of creativity and innovative new talent in electronic and dance music. Which is also why we were honored and excited to have TMG Artist Disfunktion join the label in fashion with his latest release, ‘Falcons’!
To better understand the vision behind Intonenation and why we believe so strongly in their success, it is necessary to take a closer look at the passionate, dedicated team that comprises the label.
Born and bred in New York, label head JES started singing and writing songs from an early age. Her first professional recordings were made at the tender age of 14 and JES developed her craft through the years that followed working with NY’s elite producers and songwriters. Her big break came after she relocated from New York to California. Befriending and working with DJ’s and producers from the developing electronic music scene there JES found a new channel for her songwriting. A major break through came with a standout track on Paul Van Dyk’s world famous “Politics Of Dancing” mix compilation. Shortly after that JES wrote and recorded “As The Rush Comes” with Bay Area DJ’s Gabriel & Dresden. The song helped to redefine the landscape of modern dance music. JES’ soulful voice and autobiographical writing was a refreshing departure for the electronic music world and proved a key ingredient in the songs genre blurring sound. After meeting Tiesto at an Arena show in the United Kingdom the world #1 DJ signed her to his own label. Four solo artist albums followed on Black Hole Recordings resulting in numerous hits and JES collaborated with the biggest names in dance. Her unmistakable voice and songwriting have propelled the music of Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Cosmic Gate, BT, Ferry Corsten and ATB (among many others) and have won her numerous awards, nominations and chart positions. Adding DJ’ing to her list of talents in 2011 JES’ weekly radio mix show “Unleash The Beat” is syndicated world wide.
Without taking away from JES’ ability to captivate nearly every audience she has been introduced to, her road to success was accompanied by music industry veterans Richard Robson, Tom Fritze and KTEE! With a lifetime of combined experience, each member of the team brings a relentless work-ethic to the table along with a higher understanding of the music industry and unprecedented expertise in their respective roles.
As a producer and A&R, Richard Robson assists JES in the curation and development of Intonenation and its artists. Combining a keen ear for understanding where the market is heading, Grammy-nominated production/sound engineering skills and an uncanny ability to get along with everyone, Richard is the perfect man for the challenge. With his sights already on 2017, Richard is constantly looking for innovative sound and creative producers who are not afraid to live life on the edge… production wise that is :-). Richard works closely with the artist to develop their sound and improve their skills as a producer which is increasingly hard to come by with so much content. Recognizing that in today’s markets music is consumed through thousands of mediums, Richard’s approach to growing the label and its artists’ is about hitting the digital music space from every angle.
Tom Fritze acts as JES’ tour manager and Intonenation’s expert on sound curation. He has a passion for technology and over the years has developed a level of understanding unseen in the electronic music industry. With a wide array of expertise in sound engineering and design, Tom focuses on precision more than anything else. Tom’s ability to maintain an exceptional studio environment both on the road and in LA is allows for Intonenation to thrive. Regularly housing world renowned talent in their multi-level West Hollywood Studio, Intonenation Records has Tom to thank for the presentation and much of the impressiveness that is Taxigirl Studios.
KTEE looks to tie everything together as the Brand and Marketing Manager. As pivotable a role as any, her track record speaks volumes working with artist who have appeared in the top 10 on American Idol and The Voice! Adding to that is an long list of renowned brands KTEE has worked with such as: MTV, VH1, Fuse, Interscope, Universal, Capital Records, Warner Bothers, Myspace Music, Roadrunner Records, Ultra Records, Black Hole Recordings & Armada Music. With KTEE, passion struck early when she was introduced to electronic dance music in middle school and she has been a house head ever since.
The commitment this team has to bringing good music to the masses will no doubt brandish the long term success of Intonenation. Most recently, Intonenation Records released a monster collab between TMG artist Disfunktion and Sebastian Serrano. ‘Falcons,’ out on all portals December 12 has received tremendous early support from the likes of Hardwell, Nicky Romero, Dimitri Vangelis and Wyman, Futuristic Polar Bears and more!
